Math 8 Reflection Sheet: city design project.
City Design Project (Transversals)8.G.5 Use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, about the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles.
1) Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
The standard is 8.G.5. ( Use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, about the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles.) This project relates to the standard because I had to use the different types of angles to make a city. This project requires knowledge of types of angles.
2) What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
First, I came up with a practice outline so that I could make a perfect final draft. Afterwards, I came up with a title name with Esther for the city. After we came up with the title, we identified the angles and made parallel lines in the middle. We then drew different buildings according to the worksheet Ms. Diaz gave us. Afterwards, we decorated, colored, and named the streets.
3) This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I can identify the different kinds of angles. This also proves that we are creative and capable of designing an outline. This assignment also demonstrates that I can use what I learned in class to create my own project about the different types of angles and their measurements.
4) I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could have improved my work on this assignment by planning it all the way rather than directly drawing the buildings without improvising. I also could have used my time more wisely. For instance, I could have drawn out the outline before adding the details one by one which took quite a long time.
5) How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I will apply the skills I learned from this assignment in real life for when I am an adult because I want to go into architecture and this is the perfect project to learn more about the different angles in a mini city. These skills will help me in the future as a student if I need to learn about the different types of angles when I need to take extra classes to learn the basic idea of architecture.
